Creative Leadership in the New Millenium ISPA New York Conference December 13 - 16, 1998 |
|
Overview Conference Schedule |
ISPA's 51st Anniversary Conference will create a truly multi-disciplinary, international perspective on the theme of "Creative Leadership" as it relates to artists, managers, and presenters. Renowned British author and director Jonathan Miller will open the conference with a keynote address at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 13th. Following Miller's talk will be two plenary sessions. The first, entitled "Leading the Way," will address new ideas in educational outreach and audience development. The afternoon's second panel will examine the dynamic state of the art in electronic commerce and performance. Sunday's events will conclude with a reception and the annual Awards Dinner (business attire) at the Windows on the World Restaurant at the top of the World Trade Center. On Monday, December 14, three simultaneous morning sessions will be held in different New York performance spaces. Tentative topics for these sessions include the resurgence of festivals, design and creativity for small spaces, and issues in the management of multi-hall venues. After lunch, the conference moves into plenary session in yet another theatre with a panel of artists, managers, and presenters addressing the challenges of creating and marketing new work. On Tuesday, December 15, the Exhibit Hall will be open from 9 to 5. Spaces are not yet fully booked, but members who wish to exhibit should return their registration forms as soon as possible to the New York office. A site visit to one of New York's newest theatres on Wednesday morning, December 16, will conclude with a closing address from a prominent figure in the performing arts field. More complete details will be forthcoming as participation is finalized. An enhanced list of performance events including Broadway, off-Broadway, circus, music, and dance for Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday is being prepared for registrants, and will be mailed in September.
